Kick-off event of the new EU project:

EU4Business – for competitive and innovative local economy

The European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) have made a presentation of the new joint project “EU4Business” in Sarajevo, 07.06.2018.

At the press conference, the key speakers were the head of the EU Delegation to BIH H.E. Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, the Ambassador of Germany to BiH H.E. Christine Constanze Hohmann, GIZ Director Dr Brigitte Heuel-Rolf and UN/UNDP Resident Coordinator/Representative Mrs Sezin Sinanoglu,

It was pointed out that the project is a continuation of support for the development of the private sector in BiH and presents the concrete aid to small and medium-sized enterprises, farmers and young people who want to start their businesses. Highlighted were the potentials of the BiH economy and its local communities, but also the difficulties that the entrepreneurs are encountering.

The support via grants will be provided from the Grant Fund Facility in the total amount of EUR 10 million. The first open Call for Proposals are expected to be launched at the end of 2018.

The EU4Business project is worth EUR 16.1 million and is jointly financed by the European Union (EUR 15 million) and the Federal Republic of Germany (EUR 1.1 million).
