Within the project “Magic Climbing Areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina” that is funded by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany, today the first generation of participants in the training module for the title “Sports Climber” as well as the new climbing wall was promoted. The climbing wall is the first of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a surface of 120 m2.
This is an important day for the Faculty of Sports and Physical education Sarajevo because, with a new climbing wall and a developed education module, we have started a serious and long-term approach to capacity development, for both students and other stakeholders, to acquire the title “Sports Climber”. With the development of climbing as a tourist product in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this title will become more and more important”, said prof. dr. Haris Alić, Dean of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education Sarajevo.
This activity is only one of many within the project “Magic climbing areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, which is jointly implemented by the Faculty of Sports and Physical education Sarajevo, Mountaineering Association “FASTO” and IT company “Rebus” d.o.o. Sarajevo. The project will be implemented for 18 months, and its total value is 348,000.00 KM, of which the European Union has allocated 277,300.00 KM of grants.
